In Loving Memory of Bob Carlin

A Brother, A Fighter, A Light in the Darkness

With heavy hearts, we honor the life and legacy of Bob Chase (Robert Manuel Carlin), a cherished member of our Arachnoiditis community who fought bravely for over 20 years. Bob passed away on March 15, 2025, leaving behind a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Bob was more than a warrior—he was an anchor in our men’s support group, a foundation of strength for those battling Arachnoiditis. From the very first meeting, he was there, offering his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support. For over three years, he and his close friend Lew connected weekly, sharing laughter, struggles, and the simple joys of gaming and conversation. Bob’s resilience was an inspiration; even on the hardest days, he showed up—not just for himself, but for his family, his friends, and his fellow Arachnoiditis fighters.

A Life of Love, Strength, and Passion

Bob was a man of faith, honor, and deep compassion. His greatest joy in life was his beloved wife, Paula, and his family, whom he cherished beyond words. He often spoke about the love they shared—a love so rare and pure it belonged in storybooks. Paula stood by his side every step of the way, providing care, comfort, and unconditional love, proving that even in the darkest battles, love can be the greatest light.

Beyond his fight against Arachnoiditis, Bob found solace in the great outdoors, fishing, and traveling. He was a patriotic man, a devoted husband, and a cherished friend. His humor, intelligence, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Honoring Bob’s Legacy

Bob’s journey with Arachnoiditis was not just his own—it was a testament to the daily battle so many in our community face. He fought courageously, despite the unrelenting pain of "The Devil’s Disease", and in doing so, he became a beacon of hope and perseverance for others.

To honor his memory and support his grieving family, a GoFundMe has been set up to assist with funeral expenses and ease the burden on his wife, Paula.

If you are unable to donate, please consider leaving a memory, message, or tribute—every word is a gift of comfort to his loved ones.

Rest in Peace

Bob’s life was one of resilience, love, and faith. His kindness will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his spirit will forever remain a part of our Arachnoiditis community. Though his suffering has ended, his story continues in the strength of those he inspired.
